When Richard Demaray, aka "Dumaray", asked that question, it began a tradition of Ward documenting the strange, nonsensical questions and statements made by his students and sometimes himself! He aptly named them "Dumarays". Ward started the Dumaray List in 1975, and additions to it continued until his retirement in 1988.
